Nicole Kidman is top female earner

Hollywood star Nicole Kidman has been named as the highest-paid actress in Hollywood, banking a pay packet of between $16 and 17 million (£8.1 and 8.6 million) per film.

Kidman, who can be heard lending her vocal talents to animated comedy Happy Feet from next week, has recently starred in movies such as Bewitched, The Stepford Wives and Cold Mountain.

Four actresses took joint second place in the Hollywood Reporter's annual list of highest earners, including Walk The Line star Reese Witherspoon who can command up to $15 million per film.

Renee Zellweger, Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore also take home this fee for each movie they star in, with Monster's Ball and Catwoman actress Halle Berry asking for a cool $14 million.

Charlize Theron was placed seventh in the list, earning $10 million. Although most recently seen in futuristic sci-fi thriller Aeon Flux, Theron's portrayal of serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster earned her the best actress Oscar in 2004.
