Milli Vanilli … the musical?

3 stars out of 5.0
Those old enough to remember Milli Vanilli - the pop group stripped of a Grammy award after they admitted they did not sing on their own records - may be interested to hear that their story is to be made into a film.

After being brought to the height of fame and back down again, the duo's tale is to be written by Jeff Nathanson, who penned Catch Me If You Can.

And the movies may be more similar than meets the eye, as Catch Me If You Can told the real-life story of fraudster Frank Abagnale Jr, who pretended to be a number of things - although maybe not a pop singer.

Of the Milli Vanilli movie, Nathanson told Variety: "I've always been fascinated by fakes and frauds, and in this case you had guys who pulled off the ultimate con, selling 30 million singles and then becoming the biggest laughing stocks of pop."

Nathanson has also turned his scriptwriting hand to films such as Rush Hour 2 and The Terminal.
