Hot Fuzz stays top of UK box office

4 stars out of 5.0
Hot Fuzz, the new film from the team behind zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead, stays at the top of the UK box office this week, bringing its takings to £11.9 million in two weeks.

The movie faced no competition from new entries, with the highest being Jim Carrey's thriller The Number 23, which debuted in third place.

Other new releases - The Good Shepherd and School for Scoundrels - took numbers five and eight respectively, while Blood Diamond remained as the longest-running film in the chart, hanging on at number ten.

Meanwhile, the top ten could benefit from this week's Oscars, which saw the Leonardo DiCaprio action movie and British drama Notes On A Scandal both nominated.

The Queen, The Last King Of Scotland, Dreamgirls, The Departed and Little Miss Sunshine - which is now available to rent on DVD - took home prizes in the major categories.
