Director 'planning Army of the Dead'

Fresh from the success of US box office chart-topper 300, director Zack Snyder is set to create a zombie action movie entitled Army of the Dead.

After he previously took the reins behind the camera on the remake of Dawn Of The Dead, Army of the Dead will be based on a story written by Snyder, Variety reports.

The film will follow the fortunes of a father and daughter in a quarantined zone - Las Vegas - where the two must survive the onslaught of human blood-hounds who have taken over.

"I feel like there hasn't been a zombie movie on the scale that we want to do it," he told the industry magazine.

Fans will be aware that Dawn of the Dead was a remake of George A. Romero's 70s classic, which itself was a sequel to Night of the Living Dead and a precursor to Day of the Dead and Land of the Dead.

However, Snyder's version changed a number of details by making the zombies fast and agile, unlike Romero's who were restricted to more of a stagger.
