Sex and the City 'to be filmed this year'

3 stars out of 5.0
After a series of false starts, a movie version of the popular series Sex and the City is to start filming this autumn, it emerged today.

TV Guide magazine confirmed that each of the four main actresses have agreed terms for the film, which is expected to be released some time in 2008.

The show began airing in 1999 and wowed audiences with its upfront and direct style involving four women navigating their way through the dating world in New York City.

Following the last episode of season six, rumours immediately began circulating about the possibility of a movie - although nothing materialised.

Each of the cast went on to different projects; Sarah Jessica Parker has starred in romantic comedies Failure to Launch and The Family Stone, while Kristin Davis played a role in family movie Deck The Halls.

Additionally, Kyle MacLachlan - who starred as Charlotte's uptight husband Trey - has since featured opposite Marcia Cross in season three of Desperate Housewives.
