New Street Fighter movie in the works

3 stars out of 5.0
Fans of the 90s computer game Street Fighter may be intrigued to hear that a second movie based on the characters is currently in the works.

According to Variety, Andrzej Bartkowiak is to direct the film, which will not be a sequel to the original Street Fighter released in 1994.

It starred Kylie Minogue as Lieutenant Cammy and Jean-Claude Van Damme as William Guile although many other faces from the game such as Dhalsim and E Honda were portrayed.

However, the new movie is expected to centre around Chun-Li, the Chinese martial arts expert recognisable for her beautiful blue dress but deadly moves.

Director Bartkowiak has previously helmed another video game adaptation, Doom, in addition to the stylish action thrillers Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds and Cradle 2 the Grave.

Prior to his directorial work he was a cinematographer on films including Speed, The Devil's Advocate and US Marshals.
