4 stars out of 5.0
Following this week's news that Dreamgirls and ex-American Idol contestant Jennifer Hudson is to star in the big screen version of Sex and the City, a release date for the movie has been announced.

Set to hit US cinema screens on May 30th 2008, Empire reports that a UK debut is likely to be around the same time - which should excite fans of the show who are looking forward to the film.

Although no plot details have emerged, all four main characters are to return as is Chris Noth, who played the emotionally unavailable Mr Big.

Each of the cast has completed a number of projects since the show ended three years ago.

Sarah Jessica Parker has launched two fragrances and starred in romantic comedies Failure to Launch and The Family Stone, while Kim Cattrall has appeared on the London stage and Irish drama The Tiger's Tail.

Meanwhile, Kristin Davis - who played uptight Park Avenue princess Charlotte - recently featured in a festive comedy entitled Deck The Halls and Cynthia Nixon has guest-starred in TV series ER and 3lbs.
