Kid beats The Kingdom to number one

3 stars out of 5.0
It may have only reached number two in the US chart, but Ben Stiller's new movie The Heartbreak Kid fared better in the UK upon its release this week.

Debuting in first place, The Heartbreak Kid beat new action thriller The Kingdom into second and pushed long-reigning favourite Run, Fat Boy, Run to number three, according to data from AC Nielsen.

Atonement, starring Keira Knightley, occupied fourth place, while Adam Sandler and Kevin James in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry is still making audiences laugh at number five.

The only other new entry this week was Control, a biopic about the life of Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis, who committed suicide in his early 20s.

Alongside Samantha Morton as Deborah Curtis, the singer himself is portrayed by Yorkshire actor Sam Riley, who also starred in another Manchester-set real-life tale, 24 Hour Party People.
