"Exclusive" Southland Tales poster online

An "exclusive" poster for the new film from Donnie Darko writer-director Richard Kelly is now online and should whet the appetites of fans waiting to see the sci-fi thriller.

Empire Online posted the teaser this weekend prior to the movie's scheduled release date of December 7th, after various obstacles kept the film in development for months.

It is likely to be as mind-boggling as Kelly's previous work – the aforementioned Donnie Darko – which saw Jake Gyllenhaal as a troubled teen haunted by visions of a six-foot rabbit who told him the world would soon end.

Southland Tales is set in the near-future, where an apocalypse has turned America into a police state and the lives of various individuals intertwine as social disaster gets closer and closer.

The film stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, The Rock and Seann William Scott in addition to singer-turned-actress Mandy Moore.

It was also nominated for the prestigious Golden Palm award at the 2006 Cannes film festival.
