Cheryl Hines of Curb your Enthusiasm is to make her debut as a feature director with the movie Serious Moonlight, it emerged this weekend.

The actress, who stars as Larry David's long-suffering wife in the improvised comedy series, is currently casting the film that was written by Adrienne Shelly, reports Variety.

Shelly died last year after directing Waitress, a comedy drama in which Hines featured alongside Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion.

"I had such respect for Adrienne and the work she did," Hines told the industry paper. "I love her writing so much … I feel a great sense of pride to be directing this film."

In addition to her role in Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hines has also featured in Scrubs, Father Of The Pride and the family comedy RV.

She is currently filming Henry Poole Is Here, a quirky drama starring Luke Wilson and Radha Mitchell.
