Mark Ruffalo expected to sign for Martin Scorsese film

4 stars out of 5.0
Zodiac and 13 Going On 30 star Mark Ruffalo has "all but signed a final contract" to appear in the next Martin Scorsese film, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Ruffalo, who also featured in Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind and Collateral, is expected to star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Shutter Island, the next movie from the legendary director.

The film is based on a book by Mystic River author Dennis Lehane and follows a pair of investigators as they attempt to find a criminally insane prisoner who has escaped.

However, their search leads to an island which is soon hit by a hurricane, cutting off all transport to the mainland and leaving them at the centre of a deadly riot.

The film is set to be the fourth collaboration between Scorsese and DiCaprio, who have previously worked together on The Departed, The Aviator and Gangs Of New York.

Meanwhile, those wanting to catch up on other adaptations of Dennis Lehane's novels can watch the aforementioned Mystic River or wait for recent picture Gone Baby Gone to come to DVD.

In addition, Lehane has written certain episodes of Baltimore-set crime drama series The Wire.
