Bana 'to become Bond'

Hulk star Eric Bana has reportedly been lined up as the next James Bond.

The Australian actor has beaten British stars Jude Law, Ewan McGregor and Orlando Bloom to the coveted role, according to the News of the World.

Bana, 35, has starred in Australian flick Chopper, Hulk, Black Hawk Down and Troy. He is now following in the footsteps of former Aussie Bond George Lazenby in donning the famous black tuxedo.

An insider told the paper: " Eric is the guy they want but he has a reputation for being demanding. They want to modernise Bond and turn him into a youthful, suave and modern hero to compete with the likes of Spider-Man and Keanu in The Matrix."

Pierce Brosnan is believed to have made his last appearance as 007 and recently revealed that producers have not been in touch with him about the upcoming 21st Bond film.

Provisionally titled 'The Man with the Red Tattoo', the latest Bond adventure will see the MI6 agent battling to save the world from a deadly virus.
