AFI names top 10 of 2007

4 stars out of 5.0
The American Film Institute (AFI) has listed what it believes to be the top ten films and television programmes of 2007.

Aimed at honouring "excellence in the moving arts", AFI makes the selection annually.

This year, films singled out as the cream of the crop include animated comedy Ratatouille, legal drama Michael Clayton and the hilarious Knocked Up.

Also mentioned is The Savages, Before The Devil Knows You're Dead, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, Juno and recent road movie Into The Wild, which was directed by Sean Penn.

Meanwhile, the top TV shows this year were listed by the AFI as Dexter, Friday Night Lights, Everybody Hates Chris, Longford and Mad Men.

In addition, comedy series Ugly Betty was selected, as was the classic and sorely-missed mob drama The Sopranos. Other choices included 30 Rock, Tell Me You Love Me and Pushing Daisies - a US hit that features the UK's very own Anna Friel.
