There Will Be Blood given top award

Forthcoming UK release There Will Be Blood has been given the award for best picture of 2007 by the National Society of Film Critics.

The film, which stars Daniel Day Lewis as a greedy oil investor, was directed by paul Thomas Anderson who was named as best director of the year. Day Lewis took the award for best actor.

Other winners included Casey Affleck, whose portrayal of Robert Ford in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford was recognised as the best performance by a supporting actor.

Cate Blanchett continued her run of praise for rock biopic I'm Not There and was given the award for best supporting actress.

There Will Be Blood is scheduled for release in the UK on February 15th, while I'm Not There and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford are already available to watch in cinemas.
