More stars destined for Scorsese's Shutter Island

Screen legend Max von Sydow is among the latest batch of stars to join the cast of Martin Scorsese's latest production, the mystery drama Shutter Island, according to reports in Tinseltown.

The Hollywood Reporter says von Sydow, whose 59-year big screen career includes turns as Father Merrin in The Exorcist, Ming the Merciless in Flash Gordon and Jesus in The Greatest Story Ever Told, joins Jackie Earle Haley and British actress Emily Mortimer as the production's latest recruits.

Those already confirmed for the film's stellar ensemble include Leonardo DiCaprio, who worked with Scorsese on The Departed, Sir Ben Kingsley and Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind's Mark Ruffalo, as well as Brokeback Mountain's Michelle Williams and Patricia Clarkson of Good Night and Good Luck.

According to the paper, Shutter Island is the story of two US Marshals who become trapped on a Massachusetts island while investigating the disappearance of a patient at an institute for the criminally insane.

Filming is slated to start on March 6th.
