It stole the top spot from assassination drama Vantage Point, which opens in the UK this week. Fantasy adventure the Spiderwick Chronicles held on to third place, while another debut - historical bodice-ripper The Other Boleyn Girl starring Scarlett Johansson (Lost In Translation, Girl With A Pearl Earring) and Natalie Portman (Leon, Garden State) - took fourth. Former number one Jumper slipped to fifth, while Step 2 The Streets, with She's The Man's Robert Hoffman, was in at six. Romantic adventure Fool's Gold, starring Kate Hudson and Donald Sutherland, was number seven. Christina Ricci's modern day fairytale Penelope debuted at eight, followed the Coen brothers' multi-Oscar winning No Country For Old Men.
