Movie adaptations of the games "Street fighter" - starring Kylie Minogue and Jean-Claude Van Damme - and "Mortal Kombat" were both critically panned; however, an adaptation of "Tomb Raider" proved more successful. Warner Bros have held the rights to the game for almost two years. The film's producers have not changed - and Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and John Wells will come across from Warner Bros to Universal to try and get the film running with the new company. The script is now complete - and Enda McCallion looks set to make his directorial debut with the project. The project will get a boost from the upcoming release of "DOOM 3" - and the storyline of the film will be loosely based on this. "DOOM 3" is set for release next month.
