De Niro joins Fine cast

Screen legend Robert De Niro has joined Charlie's Angels star Drew Barrymore and Pearl Harbour's Kate Beckinsale in the cast of comedy remake Everybody's Fine, according to reports.

Industry newspaper Variety says De Niro, whose CV includes Raging Bull, Godfather II, Goodfellas and Casino, will take the lead in the move, which is remake of Italian film Stanno Tutti Bene.

He will play a widower who takes a road trip in a bid to reconnect with his grown-up children following the death of his wife.

Also confirmed for the cast is Sam Rockwell, whose previous roles include appearances in The Green Mile, Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind and The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.

Kirk Jones, the director behind Nanny McPhee and offbeat comedy Waking Ned, will be behind the camera for the project.

De Niro has recently finished work on hardboiled crime drama Righteous Kill, which also stars the legendary Al Pacino, rapper 50 Cent and Band Of Brothers' Donnie Wahlberg.
