Mike wants his MTVThe Canadian comedian, who shot to fame in the UK as heavy metal-loving slacker Wayne Campbell in 1992's Wayne's World, will take the helm at this year's show after winning the ceremony's top honour - the MTV Generation Award - in 2007. According to the BBC, previous categories at the awards bash have included best kiss and best fight. Myers, who also appeared in disco drama 54, Dr Seuss adaptation The Cat In The Hat and quirky ice hockey comedy Mystery, Alaska, last hosted the awards in 1997. He is also a veteran of long-running US comedy institution Saturday Night Live, which is where Wayne's World was born. The corporation quotes him as saying: "Hosting the MTV Movie Awards is like a party, but without having to do beer runs in your mom's minivan." Last year's winners included Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (Best Movie), Jack Nicholson (Best Villain - The Departed) and Transformers (Best Summer Movie You Haven't Seen Yet). Mike Myers' latest movie, The Love Guru, opens in the UK on August 1st. Titles related to this articleRelated/similar articles
