Tropic Thunder still US number one

Ben Stiller's new comedy Tropic Thunder has remained at the top of the US box office for the third consecutive week.

Pulling in some $11.5 million (£6.4 million)in the last week, the movie features Stiller, Robert Downey Jr and Jack Black as a group of actors attempting to make a Vietnam movie.

Vin Diesel's new sci-fi adventure Babylon AD took second place, while The Dark Knight refused to go quietly – creeping back up to third place.

New comedy The House Bunny slipped to two places to fourth, while political thriller Traitor and spoof film Disaster Movie opened at five and seven respectively.

Woody Allen's latest film Vicky Cristina Barcelona - starring Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem - opened in tenth place with takings of just over $3 million.

Allen's film has already made plenty of headlines as a result of the lesbian scenes between Cruz and Johansson.
