Depp in for Pirates payday

Johnny Depp is set to receive a record-breaking fee for his part in the forthcoming Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Depp is reportedly being paid £32 million to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the fourth instalment of the popular franchise.

It will make him the highest-paid actor in Hollywood, even topping Tom Hanks' £29 million for the Da Vinci Code sequel Angels and Demons.

A source told the Sun: "It's a lot of swag but they just can’t make another without Sparrow."

However, it has not yet been made clear whether Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley will return for the fourth movie of the hit series, which has so far netted Disney some £1.52 billion.

Elsewhere, it was recently reported that Depp has signed up to play the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland adaptation, as well as taking the role of Tonto in a planned Lone Ranger movie.
