Lord of the Rings still top of the box office

Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King has topped the US box office for the third week running.

The movie took $30.8 million (£17.1 million) over the last weekend, taking its total to $292 million (£162 million) in the US alone.

Worldwide, it has taken $677 million (£376 million) after less than a month on release, putting it hot on the heels of its predecessor, The Two Towers, which took $921 million (£512 million) overall.

The only new entry into the US top ten this week was Brit-flick Calendar Girls, which jumped in an number nine, after going on release at a further 745 cinemas across the US.

The rest of the top five looks fairly unchanged - with Cheaper by the Dozen remaining at number two, Something's Gotta Give and Cold Mountain swapping places at numbers three and four respectively, and new Ben Affleck movie Paycheck at number five.
