Mamma Mia! 'the UK's biggest-selling DVD of all time'

Mamma Mia! is the biggest-selling DVD in the UK ever, according to the Official Charts Company (OCC).

The film, which was released on DVD five weeks ago, has become the first disc to sell more than five million copies and has overtaken Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl, which sold 4.7 million copies.

Starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Amanda Seyfried, Mamma Mia! has already been nominated for two Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture and Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy.

The ABBA-themed movie, directed by Phyllida Lloyd, is now owned by one in four households.

Martin Talbot, managing director of the OCC, said: "Right from its release, Mamma Mia! has been a record-breaker.

"This latest landmark further underlines the popularity of the movie, which is now officially the British public's favourite DVD of all time."

Other movies tipped to succeed at the Golden Globes in the comedy and musical section include Burn After Reading, Vicky Christina Barcelona and Happy-Go-Lucky.
