Leonardo DiCaprio's firm to develop NeverEnding Story remake?

Leonard DiCaprio's shingle Appian Way is in discussions with Warner Bros to develop the latest film in The Neverending Story saga.

The studio acquired the rights to the property and a remake of the 25-year-old movie is on the cards.

Wolfgang Petersen directed the original fantasy tale, which saw a boy called Bastian Balthazar Bux discover a parallel world which is crumbling as people in the real world become less imaginative.

It has since spawned two sequels, the second of which debuted in the US in 1996 and went straight to video.

However, the big names are out in force to make the new version, and the Kennedy/Marshall Company - which developed Brad Pitt and David Fincher's third collaboration, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - are also talking with Warner Bros.

DiCaprio's Appian Way is already collaborating with Warner Bros to bring the Japanese anime classic Akira to the big screen.

The live action version will be set in Tokyo in 2019 and will follow the story of a teen biker who has his latent powers unleashed in a government experiment.
