TV director/producer Lorre given Hollywood star

Director/producer Chuck Lorre has been honored with the 2380th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The brains behind hit TV sitcoms Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory was handed the accolade on Thursday (12Mar09), with comedy stars Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer on hand to pay tribute to Lorre.

Presenting the award, Sheen publicly thanked Lorre for helping to revive his flailing career, following a well-publicised drug battle.

He said, "Through your brilliant and tireless commitment to our insanely dysfunctional, yet lovable TV family, you have changed my life forever, both personally and professionally."

And Lorre dedicated the star to his children, Asa and Nikki, crediting them with inspiring him to succeed.

Accepting the award, he told the crowd, "I've had angels in my life that have carried me. There's a series of miracles that lead to something as extraordinary as this.

"When they (my kids) were born, I was determined to take care of them, no matter what. No matter what leads to here."

Lorre is also well known for his work on 1990s hit shows Cybill, Grace Under Fire, and Dharma & Greg.
