DiCaprio turns his hand to Cat's Cradle

Titanic actor Leonardo DiCaprio is set to produce a new film based on Kurt Vonnegut's book Cat's Cradle.

DiCaprio, who was nominated for an Oscar following his performance in Martin Scorsese's The Aviator earlier this year, will devote his production company Appian Way to the project.

Although it is unclear whether DiCaprio, who has also starred in Catch Me If You Can and Gangs Of New York, will appear onscreen, Cat's Cradle will be adapted by James V Hart and son Jake Hart.

Cat's Cradle is based around the fantasy weapon "ice-nine" which threatens to send the planet into deep freeze.
