Knowing takes over global box office chart

Nicolas Cage's sci-fi thriller Knowing has taken the top spot in the international box office chart with earnings of £6.9 million.

The movie, about a boy who discovers a cryptic premonition, knocked Clint Eastwood's Gran Torino off the top of the international charts outside of the U.S.

The East wood film slips to second and comedy Paul Blart: Mall Cop picked up £6.66 million from 14 markets outside of the U.S. to round out the top three.

Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson's family dog tale Marley And Me takes fourth place with £5.5 million, and Julia Roberts' spy thriller Duplicity comes in fifth.
