All go for Gibson's ApocalyptoHis new film, Apocalypto, will be set some 3,000 years ago, in the ancient culture of the Mayans, and it is thought that the film will be filmed using a Mayan dialect. Disney will distribute the film in the US, having previously worked with Gibson on films such as Signs and Ransom. Meanwhile, the film will be distributed worldwide by Gibson's own company, Icon, and he will be hoping to recreate the success of The Passion Of The Christ, one of the biggest indie films of all time. It made a staggering $600 million worldwide, despite being made on a budget of just $25 million. Aside from The Passion Of The Christ, Gibson's directorial experience only extends as far as The Man Without A Face and Braveheart.
