Barrymore admits close friendship with Long is 'confusing'

Drew Barrymore has played down speculation she's reunited with ex-boyfriend Justin Long, insisting they are "dear friends" who "just adore" one another.

The Hollywood star split from the actor last July (08) after a year-long romance.

The couple has been spotted out together on numerous occasions in recent months, with Long joining his former belle on the red carpet for the New York premiere of Barrymore's new TV movie Grey Gardens on Tuesday (14Apr09) - prompting reports they had rekindled their love.

But, during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Barrymore brushed off rumours she's back together with her He's Just Not That Into You co-star - although she admits their close friendship is "confusing".

The actress, who will reteam with Long on film for the forthcoming Going the Distance, says, "We're good friends, and we're doing a film this summer and I think it's very confusing.

"Yes, he was at the premiere in New York. We're dear friends. I guess people find it a little confusing. I totally understand. It seems like, 'What is the deal with them?', but we just adore each other. We're in each other's lives, and we're friends, and we're working together, and we have worked together."

When DeGeneres further quizzed her about whether they are dating other people, Barrymore clarified, "We're just friends, so we are free to do whatever we want.

"I just hope that (any of Long's future girlfriends) are fantastic people, because he's a great guy and he deserves the most happiness."
