Star Trek shoots to top of box office
The new Star Trek movie has won over sci-fi fans - the prequel has shot to the top of the box office after taking £6 million in its first four days. The highly-anticipated prequel, directed by J.J Abrams, claimed the biggest opening in the franchise's history on its first weekend in America (09-10May09) - garnering £48.3 million. And Captain Kirk and his crew beat off competition from animated film Coraline, which made £2.4 million at the box office, with Hugh Jackman's mutant movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine in third with £2.2 million. Hannah Montana: The Movie pulled in £1.3 million to take fourth place, while romantic comedy Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past rounded out the top five with £787,283.
