Connery to receive European honour

Sir Sean Connery is to be honoured by the European Film Academy with their Lifetime Achievement Award.

Connery will collect his award at the European Film Awards, which are due to take place on December 3rd in Berlin.

In a statement, the European Film Academy said: "It is a great pleasure for the European Film Academy to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Sir Sean Connery for this impressive dedication to the world of film.

"Sir Sean Connery has not only famously embodied the world's best known secret agent, James Bond, but in a career which has spanned over fifty years, he has created some of cinema's most unforgettable characters."

Some of his memorable films include Murder On The Orient Express, The Untouchables, The Name Of The Rose and Hunt For Red October.

More recently he has appeared in The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Finding Forrester and Entrapment, with Catherine Zeta-Jones.
