Depp's Sparrow tops sea-faring swashbucklers list

Johnny Depp's pirate skipper Capt. Jack Sparrow has topped a new online poll of movie mariners.

The Pirates of The Caribbean rogue, which Depp based on rock star Keith Richards, beat Russell Crowe's Jack Aubrey in Master And Commander: The Far Side Of The World and Wind's Will Parker, played by Matthew Modine.

Also making the top 10 on the CNN sea-faring list are Kevin Costner's Mariner from Waterworld and Mutiny on the Bounty's Fletcher Christian, played by Marlon Brando in 1962.
