Harris and Mortensen set for violent encounterThe film marks a long-awaited return from director David Cronenberg, the man behind The Fly with Jeff Goldblum, controversial Crash from 1996 and eXistenZ with Jude Law. A History Of Violence stars Viggo Mortensen, from The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, who plays the role of Tom Stall, a smalltown restaurant owner. Tom enters the media spotlight after killing two robbers and is proclaimed a local hero. But his life takes a troublesome turn with the arrival of Carl Fogaty, played by Ed Harris, who has appeared in A Beautiful Mind, The Human Stain and Buffalo Soldiers. The film also features impressive performances from Maria Bello, who has appeared in Secret Window and Coyote Ugly, and William Hurt, who starred in The Village.
