Kingdom of Heaven DVD hits shelves this weekThe film features Orlando Bloom as a blacksmith named Balian, who discovers he is the son of Godfrey of Ibelin. He travels to the Holy Land with him to find Jerusalem, a city which is barely at peace, marked by the illness of Catholic King Baldwin (played by Edward Norton). Meanwhile the strength of the Islamic Saracens grows in the distance, hanging the survival of Christian Jerusalem in the balance. As Baldwin's health falters he passes his vision of peace and understanding between the religions onto his knights who swear to uphold it. Balain takes the oath from his father and swears to create a Kingdom of Heaven on earth. However, they encounter power struggles with the Knights Templar, who are only interested in their own power and wealth. The two hour long film also features Jeremy Irons as Tiberias and Ghassan Massoud as Saladin. The special edition includes a historical guide to the film, two documentaries which question the actions of the Crusaders in light of the film and an exhaustive "making-of" film. The disc includes both a DTS and Dolby Digital soundtrack and is available in single and double disk from now.
