Harry Potter named top fantasy hero

Harry Potter has been named the best fantasy hero in cinema history in a new poll.

The teenage wizard, played by Daniel Radcliffe, whose fourth film The Goblet Of Fire is to have its premier this weekend, beat off Arnold Schwarzenegger's cyborg protector in Terminator 2.

Behind the Terminator star came Buffy the Vampire Slayer, played on TV by Sarah Michelle Gellar, Doctor Who and Han Solo (Harrison Ford) from Star Wars.

The list of top fantasy heroes also included Keanu Reeves's Neo from The Matrix, Spock (Leonard Nimoy) from Star trek and Batman, played at different times by Michael Keaton, George Clooney, Val Kilmer and more recently by Christian Bale in Batman Begins.

The Sci Fi channel also found cinema's greatest villains with Darth Vader of Star Wars, played by David Prowse and voiced by James Earl Jones, topping the list.

Other villains included Doctor Who's nemesis the Daleks, the Hall 9000 computer from 2001: A Space Odyssey and Jack Nicholson as the Joker in Batman.
