Potter breaks records

The new Harry Potter film has become the most successful film in British cinema history.

In its first three days Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire made almost £15 million, beating Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith that made the same amount in four days.

Around the world the teenage wizard's fourth tale, starring Ralph Fiennes, Gary Oldman and Miranda Richardson, made almost $190 million, according to Variety.

The success of the film has also helped the main star 16-year-old Daniel Radcliffe become Britain's richest teenager, with a fortune of over £10 million.

He said: "I don't actually know how much I am worth at this point. It's not something that affects the way I think about things."

It is also rumoured that the teen will earn £8 million for the fifth film Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix.

Directorial duties on the film were taken by Mike Newel, who also made Four Weddings And A Funeral, Donnie Brasco and Mona Lisa Smile, after Chris Colombus (Nine Months, Bicentennial Man) made the first two and Alfonso Cuaron (Great Expectations, Y Tu Mama Tambien) directed Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban.
