Gambon to go back to the 18th centuryThe film, directed by Michael Apted, who was also behind Enigma and The World Is Not Enough, and written by Steven Knight (Dirty Pretty Things) tells the story of the MP William Wilberforce who led the fight against slavery. Wilberforce will be played by Ioan Gruffudd (Hornblower, Black Hawk Down) and along with Gambon (The Browning Version, Gosford Park) the cast will include Albert Finney and Rufus Sewell (Dark City) Gambon's long career has included many great performances on the stage, TV and on the silver screen but younger audiences probably best know him from Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban as Albus Dumbledore and as the prime minister in Ali G Indahouse. He is also set to star alongside Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie in The Good Shepherd, directed by and also starring Robert De Niro, that tells the story of the CIA told by one its founders.
