Revenge Of The Sith named top film of 2005

Star Wars: Episode 3 - Revenge Of The Sith has been named the most successful film of last year.

George Lucas' final slice of Star Wars pie, starring Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman and Samuel L Jackson, took a total of £490 million at the box office around the world while close behind was Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire, according to the magazine Screen International.

The fourth Harry Potter film and sixth Star Wars movie were the only films to make over $800 million worldwide, and their nearest rivals were stuck at the $600 million mark.

The huge success of the Harry Potter film shows that its popularity is not ebbing as all the films have managed to make similar amounts at the box office with Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets topping the pile.

Fans of the teenage wizard will have to wait until 2007 for the next instalment as Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix starts production later this year.

Meanwhile fans of Star Wars can get their next bit of action in George Lucas' animated Clone Wars TV series that follows the heroes in the struggles between the films.
