Hurt to be honored in London

Veteran actor John Hurt is to be honored for his achievements in the movie industry with a prestigious award from the London Film Festival.

The 69 year old is to be made a fellow of the British Film Institute (BFI) at a new awards ceremony to tie in with the British capital's movie event, which will run from 14 to 29 October (09).

The prize-giving, a new addition to the schedule, will also recognize the 2009's best new pictures.

A judging panel, including Hollywood actress Anjelica Huston, will decide on the Best Film prize with George Clooney's latest offering Fantastic Mr Fox competing against the Coen Brothers' A Serious Man, Bright Star and Viggo Mortensen's new movie The Road.

The ceremony will take place in London on 28 October (09).
