Cage honoured with U.N. humanitarian award
Nicolas Cage has been handed a special award in recognition of his humanitarian work for the United Nations (U.N). The actor, who is a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador on Drugs and Crime, was presented with the U.N. Correspondents Association's Global Citizen of the Year award at a special dinner to recognise those who are involved with humanitarian causes. At the presentation, Cage insisted he is glad to use his fame to "to shine a spotlight on the need for global justice." The Con Air star recently visited a Kenyan prison to speak with Somali pirates awaiting trial, in a bid to boost awareness of the piracy problem in the Indian Ocean.
