Cheadle to play civil rights DJ

Don Cheadle (Hotel Rwanda, Ocean's Eleven, Crash) looks set to star as the voice of Washington DC in a biopic of 1960s DJ Ralph Waldo 'Petey' Green.

The film, Talk To Me, will be directed by Kasi Lemmons who wrote and directed Eve's Bayou in 1997 and will tell the story of how an ex-con turned DJ became an iconic figure in the civil rights movement.

Playing Green's producer, Dewey Hughes, alongside Cheadle will be Chiwetel Ejiofor (Serenity, Kinky Boots, Four Brothers), in the picture which will recount how the pair battled to stay on air at a white-owned radio station at the height of the civil rights movement.

The project is being tipped for a June start.
