Up In The Air & Precious named among Scripter nominees

Up In The Air will battle it out with Precious: Based On The Novel Push By Sapphire for the coveted Scripter Award, which honours both the author and screenwriter of the year's best book-to-film adaptation.

The George Clooney film and Precious will compete with Crazy Heart, District 9 and An Education for the honour, which will be announced at the University of Southern California's Edward L. Doheny Library in Los Angeles on 6 February (10).

Last year's (09) Scripter winner, Slumdog Millionaire, went on to win eight Oscars and four Golden Globes.

The Scripter selection committee featured Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal's writer mother Naomi Foner and musician T Bone Burnett.
