Die Hard set for June next year

4 stars out of 5.0
The fourth film in the Die Hard series will hit screens on June 29th next year, distributor 20th Century Fox has announced.

Directed by Len Wiseman, Live Free Or Die Hard will be in competition with Disney's Pixar-produced film, Ratatouille.

The action film, which is scheduled to begin production next month, centres on an attack on the country's computer infrastructure which begins to shut down America.

Bruce Willis returns as the old-fashioned cop, John McClane, who takes on the techno-terrorist villain.

Wiseman told USA Today: "Our villain is high tech, but the way McClane deals with him is low-tech. A fistfight still solves a lot of problems."

He added that the fourth installment would be "a more epic movie".

"It's on a much grander scale – the threat is nationwide," Wiseman said.

Rumours have abounded that up-and-coming actor Justin Long will star alongside Willis, although Fox has only so far confirmed the veteran actor.

Released in 1988, 1990 and 1995, the three Die Hard films have earned $739 million (£390 million) worldwide.
