Noughties Bond has new love interest

When it emerged last week that Layer Cake star Daniel Craig would share a gay kiss in his latest film, Infamous, many Bond fans were said to be shocked.

So the news that Bond 22, the follow up to Casino Royale, Craig's first Bond film, will see the secret agent with a new love interest is sure to cement the actor's machismo for 007 homosceptics.

Or is it? As film insiders have revealed that Bond, being a noughties man and all, will have a male love interest in the next instalment of the franchise.

According to Bangshowbiz, CIA man Felix Leiter, who will be played by Jeffrey Wright (The Manchurian Candidate, Lady In The Water, Ali), will develop a homoerotic relationship with Craig as James Bond.

"Bond will always be a hit with the ladies. But Daniel has a massive gay fan base and that can't be ignored," an insider told the website.

Daniel Craig is turning out to be one of the more controversial incumbents of the 007 role and his first Bond film hasn't even been released yet.

Many fans have taken umbrage at the casting of the new Bond, with his masculinity apparently the main bone of contention.

Some Bond fans criticised Craig for wearing a life jacket when he attended a press conference by speedboat and other rumours have focussed on his alleged hatred of guns and supposed inability to drive a manual car.
