Stone considers second 9/11 filmStone, who has had a prolific career as a director and producer on films such as Alexander, JFK and Platoon, has won acclaim for his latest work, World Trade Center. In the film, which stars Nicolas Cage, Stone focuses on two police officers who risked their lives attempting to save people from the rubble of the destroyed twin towers in 2001. Speaking at a lecture for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta), Stone said: "It [9/11] was huge. I think it's the basis of another film for me. "I've started with the basics, with these two men in the centre of things." Stone has also been accused of insensitivity due to the timing of the film, coming just five years after the attacks when the wounds are still sore. But speaking in his defence, he said: "There is no right time to do it. It should be done when people are ready to do it. "Most drama is based on contemporary events. These guys are alive. We should grab the moment and tell it quick." World Trade Center is due to premiere on UK cinema screens on September 29th.
