The Departed holds top spot

The Departed held on to the number one spot at the UK box office this week, keeping The Devil Wears Prada at number two in the chart compiled by ACNielsen EDI.

Martin Scorsese's latest directorial offering, which stars Jack Nicholson and Leonardo DiCaprio, has been at the top of the charts for two weeks in a row.

Animated comedy Barnyard debuted at number three and features the vocal talents of Courtney Cox and Kevin James - the star of last year's romantic comedy, Hitch.

The Grudge 2, which follows on from the original where Sarah Michelle Gellar is stalked by a mysterious and murderous ghost, entered at number seven.

The lowest new entry in the top ten was from The Last Kiss starring Zach Braff and Rachel Bilson. Braff, who played JD in the television comedy series Scrubs, also wrote and directed the movie Garden State in 2004.

The Last Kiss stars Casey Affleck, Blythe Danner and Jacinda Barrett, and was released last Friday.
