Soderbergh confirms Che Guevara films

5 stars out of 5.0
Traffic and Ocean's Eleven director Steven Soderbergh has announced he is to make two films about Che Guevara.

According to Variety magazine, the films will be titled Guerilla and The Argentine, both starring Benicio Del Toro as the Cuban revolutionary.

Due to be filmed back-to-back in South America, most of the dialogue will be in Spanish, with opening scenes already having been filmed with Del Toro and Julia Ormond.

In addition, Benjamin Bratt, Javier Bardem and Franka Potente are reportedly in talks to feature in the films, which will focus on the revolution and the years following it.

Soderbergh rose to prominence in 1989 with the movie Sex, Lies and Videotape, which earned him the prestigious Palme D'or award at Cannes and the audience award at the Sundance Film Festival.

In recent years he has directed films such as Erin Brockovich and Solaris, while serving as a producer on recent hits including A Scanner Darkly, Rumor Has It, Syriana and The Jacket.
