Cruise fans lambs to the slaughter

Following the recent birth of his baby, Tom Cruise looks to be getting back to work by signing up for Lions For Lambs.

The film, which could be his first since blockbuster Mission: Impossible III, will see Robert Redford take the reigns as director.

Additionally, Cruise's new project could also be his first acting role following the controversial split with Paramount.

Starring alongside Meryl Streep in the new role, Katie Holmes's beau will star in the movie focussing on the current US conflict with Afghanistan, while Matthew Carnahan is to pen the script.

In total, the film has no shortage of acting talent and experience, as Meryl Streep's movie career fates back to the Deer Hunter and beyond, passing Out Of Africa, Postcards from the Edge and The Hours along the way.

Tom Cruise and Robert Redford are also Hollywood Heavyweights, with Redford's directorial career having already produced Quiz Show, The Horse Whisper and The Legend Of Bagger Vance.
