Golden Globe nominees announced

The nominees for the 64th annual Golden Globe awards have been announced and although many of the titles selected are still in cinemas, there are a number of forthcoming rentals up for prizes.

Movies in the running for best drama film include The Departed and The Queen, while Thank You for Smoking and Little Miss Sunshine are up for best musical or comedy film.

Best television drama series counts 24, Grey's Anatomy and Lost as contenders, while polygamy-themed Big Love is also featured in the category.

The Office, Entourage and Desperate Housewives are all given nods in the category of best television musical or comedy series, with Marcia Cross - who plays Bree Van Der Kamp in the suburban-set show - nominated as best actress.

Desperate Housewives is now in its third series and still stars the original five central characters who inhabit the sunny but mysterious Wisteria Lane.

Eva Longoria, who plays Gabrielle Solis, recently starred in summer blockbuster The Sentinel with Kiefer Sutherland.
