New rom-com from Hitch director

Andy Tennant, who directed last year's romantic comedy Hitch, has signed on to make a new film entitled Around the World in 80 Dates.

Based on a book which follows one woman's quest for the perfect man, the film is set to be developed by Reese Witherspoon's production company, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Tennant is no stranger to the rom-com genre, being responsible for light-hearted fare such as Sweet Home Alabama, Ever After and Fools Rush In.

He is likely to start filming Around the World in 80 Dates after the completion of Fool's Gold - his first film since Hitch.

Hitch starred Will Smith as "date doctor" Alex Hitchens, who specialises in helping men meet their ideal woman.

The movie also starred Eva Mendes and King of Queens actor Kevin James, as hapless tax accountant Albert who employs Hitch's in order to win over glamorous heiress Allegra Cole.
